Study of thermally and optically stimulated luminescence in LiF:Mg,Ti following neutron and beta irradiation

Abstract The results reported herein were motivated by the potential application of combined optically stimulated (OSL) and thermoluminescence (TL) measurements for separation between beta neutron dose components in mixed neutron-beta radiation fields. advantages OSL/TL are two-fold: (i) OSL TL readout can be carried out on same sample (ii) greater efficiency to high ionization density (HID) due excitation F 2 3 + centers. calibration coefficients LiF:Mg,Ti (TLD-700) measured using a 90 Sr/ Y source calibrated at Soreq Nuclear Research Center nuclear facility. estimation was irradiation with broad beam fast neutrons median energy 5 MeV quasi-monoenergetic field mean 14.8 Physikalisch Technische Bundenanstalt. preferential following HID has been demonstrated.
